Each year, the Sonnedecker Prize recognizes the author(s) of the best unpublished manuscript submitted in the competition on a topic within the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prize is aimed at graduate students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs). (See eligibility requirements below). Co-authored papers are eligible for the Sonnedecker Prize competition, provided that all listed authors meet the necessary Early Career Researcher criteria listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipient of the AIHP Glenn Sonnedecker Prize will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize (co-authored papers will split the cash award), and the manuscript will be published in AIHP\u2019s journal, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/hopp-journal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals<\/em><\/a>, <\/strong>upon successful completion of peer- and editorial-review processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb-723x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Glenn Sonnedecker in 1966\" class=\"wp-image-5605\" width=\"181\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb-723x1024.jpg 723w, https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb-106x150.jpg 106w, https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb-768x1088.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/1966sonnedeckercopyweb.jpg 963w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 181px) 100vw, 181px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions for Submissions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The deadline for submission of manuscripts for the 2023 competition is June 1, 2023.<\/strong> To be considered for the 2023 Sonnedecker Prize, please submit a copy of the unpublished manuscript in Microsoft Word format. Email the manuscript to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"mailto:aihp@sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>aihp@sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com<\/strong><\/a> using the subject heading \u201cSonnedecker Prize Submission\u201d for the message. Articles should be 8,000-10,000 words, and authors should consult the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hopp.uwpress.org\/page\/info\/submissions\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>HoPP Author Guidelines<\/strong><\/a> when preparing submissions. Papers in languages other than English should be accompanied by a translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submitted manuscripts will be evaluated and judged by a panel comprised of the Institute\u2019s Historical Director and members of the Editorial Board of <em>History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals<\/em>. The panel will announce the Sonnedecker Prize decision in August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligibility requirements are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The submitted manuscript must be a on topic related to the history of pharmacy or pharmaceuticals.<\/li><li>The submitted manuscript must not have been published, currently committed for publication, or under consideration for publication at any other journal.<\/li><li>The author(s) of the submitted manuscript must agree to allow publication of the manuscript in <em>History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals<\/em>.<\/li><li>The author(s) must be graduate students and\/or Early Career Researchers (ECRs).
