Donating Historical Material, Artifacts, and Collections to the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy has limited space for additions to its collections, but historically the Institute hass accepted donations of historical collections, books, artifacts, or other material.\u00a0 Due to a flooding incident in August, we are not currently accepting any new collection donations. Please send an email to aihp@sandbox2.foxtrotdev.com<\/a> to discuss a potential future donation when we resume collecting. \u00a0AIHP prefers to receive unrestricted donations. AIHP is unable to provide appraisals of books, artifacts, or other material.<\/p>\n\n\n

Archival or Manuscript Collections
<\/strong>AIHP seeks to preserve archival or manuscript collections related to the history of pharmacy. In the past, AIHP has accepted collections from schools of pharmacy, pharmacy organizations, pharmacy educators, pharmacy journalists, historians of pharmacy, pharmacists, pharmacies, drug companies, and drug activists. Depending on the size of the collection, AIHP houses archival records and manuscript collections either in the Kremers Reference Files<\/a><\/strong> or in the AIHP History of Pharmacy Archives at the Wisconsin Historical Society<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photographs
<\/strong>AIHP accepts donations of photographs or photograph collections related to the history of pharmacy, pharmacy organizations, pharmacy education, drug companies, and other related topics. Please provide a list or a detailed description of the photographs or photograph collection you are interested in donating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Books
<\/strong>AIHP sometimes accepts donations of historically significant books related to pharmacy. AIHP has limited space for book collections but will evaluate all potential donations on a case-by-case basis. Please provide a list of (or a photograph of the books that includes) the titles of books you are interested in donating.<\/p>\n\n\n

Journals
<\/strong>AIHP sometimes accepts donations of pharmacy journals, particularly significant runs of historical pharmacy or trade journals from before 1950. Please provide a list of (or a photograph of the journals that includes) the titles and years of pharmacy journals you are interested in donating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artifacts
<\/strong>AIHP sometimes accepts donations of pharmacy artifacts. AIHP has limited space for the storage and display of artifacts but will evaluate all potential donations on a case-by-case basis. AIHP may not be able to accept containers, jars, or bottles, which still contain drugs or medicines.
