From 1959-2020, the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy published, Pharmacy in History<\/em> (ISSN: 0031-7047 [Print] and 2329-5031 [Online]), an academic, peer-reviewed, quarterly journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning with volume 63 in 2021, AIHP is excited to announce important changes. The title of the journal will be changing to History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical<\/em>s (HoPP<\/em>), and AIHP has entered into a partnership with the University of Wisconsin Press<\/a><\/strong> for publishing History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals<\/em>. HoPP<\/em> will be published twice per year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pharmacy in History <\/em>and published original scholarly articles about the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals, broadly defined, including (but not limited to) the history of: pharmacy practice, pharmacy science, pharmacy education, drug regulation, social and cultural aspects of drugs and medicines, the pharmaceutical industry\u2014including the history of pharmaceuticals, drugs, and therapeutics\u2014and facets of the related medical sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journal solicits original unpublished scholarly manuscripts (which are not under consideration for publication elsewhere) of no more than 10,000 words (exclusive of footnotes). All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process. The review process may take several months to complete, depending upon the availability and schedules of peer reviewers. All past issues of Pharmacy in History<\/em> have been digitized and are text-searchable at JSTOR<\/a><\/strong>. Many libraries provide access to JSTOR; or readers can purchase individual articles from JSTOR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All AIHP Individual members receive a subscription to History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals<\/em> for both print and digital editions of each issue. AIHP individual members who provide us with their email address will also receive complimentary access to the Pharmacy in History<\/em> JSTOR archive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
