The Metta Lou Henderson Women in Pharmacy Collection was donated to the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy in 2009 by pioneering historian of pharmacy Dr. Metta Lou Henderson. Consisting of research material gathered for her groundbreaking research about women and the pharmaceutical profession, the Metta Lou Henderson Women in Pharmacy Collection contains research notes, primary sources, and secondary sources. Professor Henderson used much of the material in this collection in writing her book American Women Pharmacists: Contributions to the Profession<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Metta Lou Henderson Women in Pharmacy Collection contains biographical material about female pharmacists, statistical and census data, information about women and pharmacy organizations, material about female students at individual schools of pharmacy, and chronological records of women in pharmacy. A significant subset of the collection consists of information about Sister pharmacists. Many of the biographical files from the Metta Lou Henderson Women in Pharmacy Collection have been interfiled in the biographical A2 section of the Kremers Reference Files.<\/p>\n
